The CA Heads to Fort Worth

The longest-running artist group in history makes a maverick move hosting their 54thAnnual Sale and Exhibition in an iconic cow town turned contemporary West destination.

An organization with 50+ years under its belt buckle only achieves such a legacy with balanced proportions of tradition and innovation. The Cowboy Artists of America (CA) pioneered the model of western art exhibition starting in 1966, and spanned decades with unprecedented nationwide support and success with their shows in Oklahoma and Arizona. Now they bring their vast experience and mission to “authentically preserve and perpetuate the culture of Western life in fine art” to the thriving frontier metropolis of Fort Worth that lauds “Where the West begins.

“This is an exciting new venture and era for the CA,” says current group president Jason Rich. “Texas is a great fit for our show. The culture is founded on the traditional roles and trades of the West we are committed to portray with art.”

What was founded with five artists over five decades ago, flourished into an elite organization that has become one of the most influential artists’ groups in American history. The art produced by members over the years set the standard for contemporary western realism, and is represented in prestigious public and private collections around the world. Work produced by CA artists has significant value of collectability because of their legacy, quality and authenticity. As Rich explains, “Trends in art come and go, but to own CA art is to own a piece of history.”

The two-day event, November 1-2, 2019, at the Amon Carter Jr. Exhibit Hall will include an exclusive preview party on Friday night, with a Saturday itinerary featuring an artist meet-and-greet and autograph session, celebratory awards luncheon, all-day access to view the art, and an evening fixed-priced sale. The Cowboy Artists of America are deeply committed to art education and will also give demonstrations and presentations at neighboring museums, student tours through the show, and lectures at local colleges. A percentage of show proceeds benefits their non-profit organization, the Joe Beeler Foundation, which funds their educational efforts and offers scholarships to aspiring artists.

The prime new location offers locals and visitors alike the opportunity to enjoy CA show events as well as the abundant amenities of quaint yet cosmopolitan Fort Worth. Ticket packages are available in a variety of options to suit a broad budget range, and some events are free to the public.
